NBTS to hold Multi Pastoral Staff Ministry Conference

As part of effort to bring solution to the complexities in church administration, The Nigerian Baptist Theological seminary, Ogbomoso will hold second edition of Multi Pastoral Staff Ministry Conference this July, 2019.

The conference according to the President, The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso Rev. Prof. Eniola Nihinlola is designed to provide a platform for systematic study, comprehensive sharing and discussion of the universal principles and practices of Multi staff ministry with particular reference and application to a local church context.

Another aim of the conference is to respond biblically and practically to contextual and critical issues in the practice of Multi staff ministry in an organization or denomination.

The conference which comes up between Tuesday  July 23rd to Thursday July 25th 2019 with registration fees of #5,000:00 which covers Conference package, Resorce book and lunch.

The venue for the three days conference is NBTS Chapel, Ogbomoso starting from 8:00 am to 4:30pm daily.

The conference is for church pastors, specialized ministers such as music, education, children, denominational workers and officers as well as theological educators.

The main speaker for the conference is Rev. Dr. Larry Ashlock, the Executive Director, Baptist Center for Global Concerns, Arlington Texas. United States of America and to be supported by other personnel like Dr. Thomas Niyi-Ojo, Dr. Olawuyi James, Dr. Ruth Oyeniyi, Rev. Owolabi Awolola, Rev. Taiwo Opajobi among others.

Election: Hon Bimbo Oladeji Harps on Peace in Ogbomoso

Honourable Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, a chieftain of Action Democratic Party ADP in Oyo state has appealed to Ogbomoso people to see politics an instrument of Unity, development and not separation.
She also urged leaders and supporters of political parties in Oyo state to eschew politics of bitterness and violence and to embrace peace and allow peaceful atmosphere during the election period.
Hon Oladeji in a chat with our reporter said what should concern every stakeholders is using politics as an avenue to attracts and influence developmental projects to ogbomoso and its environs.
While speaking on the gubernatorial ambition of Otunba Alao Akala, Hon Oladeji said it is in the interest of Ogbomoso, “Akala has been a man with genuine passion for the development of the town, he has demonstrated it and will still do more if he emerges as the next governor of the
Majority  of the people of Ogbomoso and other part of the state loves Akala and they want him back as governor, they want him to come back and run a government with human face and make people smile again’.
‘ You will recall that during his time in Office, Otunba Akala did not make life difficult for people, but rather makes them happy with policies that enhances socio-economic development.”
Hon Oladeji who is seeking for second term as a lawmaker said “I want to consolidate on my achievements as a lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North, i will do more in term of motions and bills on issue concerning the state and my constituency as well as empowering the people.

2018 Ministers’ Conference will sharpen spiritual, ministerial skills --- Rev. Prof. Nihinlola

The Professor of Christian Theological Studies and President, The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso Rev. Prof. Emiola Nihinlola has disclosed that 2018 Ministers’ Conference will sharpen spiritual and ministerial skills of the participants.

He said the conference which will start from Monday, September 10th through Thursday, September 14th, 2018 with the theme “God of Covenant” has been planned to update academic and professional knowledge of the gospel minister.

Professor Nihinlola stated this while addressing media practitioners at a press conference for 2018 Ministers’ Conference held at the Senate Room, The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso adding that the conference provide opportunity for fellowship and denominational promotion.

Fielding questions from the journalists on significance of this year’s conference, Prof  Nihinlola explained that 2018 conference will mark the grand finale of the 120th Anniversary activities which started in November, 2017.

Nihinlola maintained that the objective of the conference is to celebrate the faithfulness of God and to further challenge gospel ministers to be faithful to God.

He further explained that activities of the conference include hymn singing, musical worship, messages, bible teachings, intercessory prayers, football matches and administration of Holy Communion.

Nihinlola who is also the Director, International Council for Higher Education, West Africa Network mentioned that officiating ministers Rev. Dr Samson O. A. Ayokunle, the President of Nigerian Baptist Convention as well as Christian Association of Nigeria; Rev. Dr Olumide Kehinde, Chairman of Nigerian Baptist Convention; Brother Gbile Akanni, Peace House, Gboko.


He said the conference is open to other denomination ministers and as well as Baptist ministers all over the nation and beyond adding that participation of all categories of gospel ministers church pastors, specialized ministers music, education, children, youth, evangelists, missionaries are expected to participate.

The president assured the participants of security of lives and property saying that central planning committee are working tirelessly to ensure successful ministers’ conference.

Oyo 2019: Sugar withdraw guber ambition, settles for Senate.

One of the Oyo State gubernatorial hopefuls in the 2019 general elections, Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar on Tuesday withdrew his gubernatorial ambition for Oyo Central Senatorial seat.

This was disclosed in a in a statement made available on social media platforms of Olatoye Sugar Foundation.

The lawmaker who expressed great regards for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) maintained that his decision was not out of fear or intimidation.

" there are new developments in the political terrain of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State which therefore necessitate the need for us to shift ground from our much desired enviable level in our political sojourn for a lesser adventure because of our strong belief in a strong, virile, indivisible and unified political party.

Consequently, as a result of several constructive engagements with our party leadership at different levels within and outside Oyo State, we have therefore conceded to vying for the position of a SENATOR in our dear Oyo Central Senatorial District of Oyo State."

2018 Ministers’ Conference: NBTS Ogbomoso to hold World Press Conference

As part of preparations toward 2018 Ministers’ Conference, The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso will on Monday, 3rd of September 2018 hold Press Conference in readiness for the program.

This was disclosed in a chat with the Public Relations Officer of the Seminary, Rev. Adekola Alade who assured that 2018 Ministers

 Conference would be a memorable one in the lives of the participants, Ogbomosoland, Oyo state,Nigeria and entire Africa.

He revealed that the Press Conference,by the grace of God,will be addressed by the President of the Seminary, Rev. Prof. Nihinlola Emiola along with the Chairman and some members of the Central Planning Committee.

Rev Alade who is also the Chairman, Publicity Committee for the Conference revealed that the venue for press conference is the Senate Room of the Seminary and will start by 12:00 noon.

He added that 2018 Ministers’ Conference will feature thanksgiving service for the 120th Anniversary Celebration of the seminary.

NBTS Ogbomoso matriculates new students for 2018/2019 Academic Session …… task on combining sound theology with deep spirituality

No fewer than 300 out of thousands of pastoral admission seekers who prefer The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso for ministerial training took matriculation oath on Monday 20th of August, 2018.

The successful candidates which include post graduates and under graduates who had scale the hurdles of interviews and entrance examination were admitted by the President of the institution, Rev. Prof. Emiola Nihinlola who charged them to see their calling into the ministry as a rear opportunity to serve God and humanity.

The event which took place at the Multipurpose Hall of The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso had in attendance principal officers, Deans and Faculty officers along with representatives of the governing council and alumni officer of the seminary.

Rev. Prof. Nihinlola who challenged the new students on ministerial excellence described seminary as improvised desert and wilderness where God used to train people for the expansion of His kingdom and service to the entire creation.

He charged the entire students of the seminary to be fully involved in both spiritual and academic activities adding that ministers of the gospel need vibrant spirituality, sound academic and competent ministry to balance the work of the God.

Prof. Nihinlola who is the 2018 Scholar Leader Award winner assured that The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso will continue to maintain its world class theological institution in Africa by embarking on more developmental projects of global standard without compromise on spiritual and academic trainings

While delivering Matriculation Lecture titled ‘The place of Theological Training in Church Growth’, Prof. Samson Fatokun of the Department of Religious Studies, University of Ibadan described the ministers of the gospel as the primary agent of church growth.

Prof. Fatokun explained that the church that promised church was not birthed until Jesus completed His ministry of calling (matriculating), training (teaching & practical aspects of ministry), equipping  and commissioning (convocation)  of the pioneering set of Jesus Itinerant University of Ministerial Studies.

Fatokun who is currently on sabbatical appointment as the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa, Edo State, Njgeria maintained that for ministers of the gospel to make meaningful impact in church growth in both qualitatively and quantitatively, they must effectively combine sound theological education with deep spirituality.

I will not rest until LAUTECH bounce back, says Hon. Wunmi Oladeji

A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly,  Honourable Wunmi Bimbo Oladeji has vowed not to rest until Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. Ogbomoso bounce back to its enviable position among Nigerian Universities.

The active female lawmaker of Oyo Assembly described crisis rocking the institution as man-made which could be resolved with genuine love for education, mankind and future generations.

Hon Oladeji who is representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency in the pace setter chamber disclosed this to Global Mirror in a chat , she expressed displeasure on the attitude of both owner stated Oyo and Osun.

The lioness of the 8th Assembly in Oyo State noted that when LAUTECH sneeze other socio-economic activities of Ogbomoso and it’s environs catches cold constitutes other  reasons for championing the cause of the institution.

It would be recalled that Hon Oladeji  moved a motion recently against astronomical increase of tuition fees from N65,000 and N70,000 to between N200,000 and N300,000.

Following an internal memorandum dated July 18, 2018, and signed by LAUTECH Registrar, Mr J. A. Agboola, had conveyed the decision of the school council’s decision to review the fees payable by students starting from 2018/2019 academic session such that Medical, Nursing and Biomedical students are to pay N300,000; those in faculty of Engineering and Technology, N250,000; while Faculties of Agricultural Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Pure and Applied Sciences are to pay N200,000.

Brought up for discussion as a matter of urgent public importance during one plenary, the lawmaker  described the increase of the school fees to the tune of 300 per cent as astronomical, and called for its reduction.

She warned of the consequences of the increase to include the tendency for students, especially the indigent, to drop out of school, as well as discourage others from seeking higher education.

Upon hearing Oladeji’s prayers, the Assembly presided over by its Speaker, Honourable Olagunju Ojo, mandated the Education Committees of both Oyo and Osun Houses of Assemblies to meet with the governing council of the university and its management.

She appealed to students of the institution to resist the temptation to get riotous over the issue, expressing hope that the two owner state governments of LAUTECH will look into the prayers for the fee reduction.
